Hoy is one of the south islands of Orkney. The island is served by two ferries, from Stromness (Orkney mainland) to Moaness (passenger only). The second ferry runs from Houton (Orkney mainland) to Lyness (passenger and car).
Air: Loganair, contact British Airways 0870 850 9850 Kirkwall Airport/Loganair (01856) 886210 Ferry: Northlink Ferries operate 2 routes, Aberdeen to Kirkwall and Scrabster to Stromness. (01856 872044). Pentland Ferries operate from Gills Bay to St Margarets Hope (01856 831226). John O’Groats Ferries operates a passenger only ferry, John O’Groats to Burwick (summer only) (01955 611353). Travel to Hoy Centre Houton (Orkney mainland) to Lyness (Hoy) Car and Passenger. Orkney Ferries (01856 811397) As a car passenger the Hoy Centre is a short drive of approximately 15 minutes along quiet country roads, with spectacular views of the Hoy hills and across Scapa Flow towards Orkney mainland. Approximately 10 miles. Stromness (Orkney mainland) to Moaness (Hoy) Foot Passenger only.
