HOY CENTRE - THE IDEAL VENUE FOR COMMUNITY EVENTS, FIELD TRIPS, CLUB MEETINGS OR SIMPLY A FAMILY OR FRIENDS GET TOGETHER
The Hoy Centre is a focal meeting point for the folk of Hoy. Based in the spectacular scenery of Hoy the Centre is available for hire for group use, either on a daily or residential basis. In 2009 the Hoy Centre was awarded "Groups Welcome" status by VisitScotland.
The Centre offers excellent facilities and is well equipped for all size parties, with amply free parking for several vehicles. For residential guests the Centre has 8 bedrooms all ensuite. There are 4 beds per room (2 singles, a bunk bed), desks and seating. The Centre is fully accessible for disabled guests.
The spacious hall has seating and tables for up to 60 people. If required there is a small stage available, plus presentation materials.
The Centre has a well-equipped kitchen for those groups wishing to provide their own food, or alternatively a catered facility is available on request.
The smaller common room has comfortable seating and TV available. - 32 beds in 8 ensuite bedrooms (2 singles, 1 bunk bed)

March/April 2008 – 3 islands art workshop. Artists from around the globe gathered to enjoy the unique environment of Hoy. The group stayed at the Hoy Centre, with the visit culminating in an exhibition of their work at the Hoy Centre, the Hoy Kirk and surrounding areas. Click for details.
August 2008 – British Lichen Society field trip. A week long field trip based at the Hoy Centre to investigate the lichens of Hoy. Click for details.
Whilst visiting Hoy groups are welcome to participate in weekly events that take place on the island including Traditional Scottish Dancing, Badminton, Stromabank Choir, swimming and *keep fit at the local Healthy Living Centre. Hoy also boasts its own theatre, the Gable End Theatre which host’s films, concerts, talks and bands throughout the year. Details of all local events are displayed at the Hoy Centre.
*please note users of the healthy living centre are required to do an induction session prior to using the facilities.
Local groups, which have stayed at the Hoy Centre, include Orkney Sea Cadets and Church groups. So whatever your group or club interest is the Hoy Centre is the ideal venue.
The Hoy Kirk If you require additional meeting or exhibition space…..
The Hoy Kirk, which is adjacent to the Hoy Centre is available to hire to hire to any group using the Hoy Centre. This recently refurbished community building is ideal for music, dances, exhibitions, or even just quiet space for reflection. The Kirk is a former place of worship, has an exceptional acoustic and lends itself well to music and performance.
